Sedation Dentistry in Leicester

Sedation Dentistry

Is A Dream-Like StateIs Great For Nervous Patients

It is common for some people to develop a fear of dental treatment as they are fearful of experiencing pain. This is not uncommon and it is very understandable, and whilst our pain receptors often protect us from dangerous situations, the fear of pain can also prevent us from getting the treatment we really need to resolve issues that can lead to more severe health concerns, particularly where your oral health is concerned.

If dental anxiety is preventing you from getting the care you need to resume full dental fitness, you should consider sedation dentistry. Care Dental’s sedation dentistry in Leicester can free you of any discomfort and fear whilst undergoing your treatment.

IV sedation produces an amnesia-like effect, so you won’t remember much about your dental appointment. In some cases, patients don’t remember any details about their appointment.

Sometimes, we patients fear the dentists, they complete their treatment in segments to break up the procedure. Sedation dentistry removes the need to do so.

Frequently Asked Sedation Questions

Yes, it's completely safe as long as it's performed by a trained and licensed medical professional. At Care Dental, your safety is our number one concern, and you will be closely monitored to ensure your safety under sedation.

Patients sometimes experience the following; A very brief period of amnesia upon 'coming around', headache or nausea and/or 'grogginess' (this is usually the most common symptom).

We ask that you have someone drive you home from the appointment. We advise you that you do not operate a vehicle or any other piece of potentially dangerous equipment for at least 24 hours afterward. In short, take it easy at home for a few hours, ideally with someone there to look after you.

While most dentists can administer minimal sedation such as nitrous oxide or oral sedation, only a small percentage of dentists like Care Dental can offer more complex techniques such as IV conscious sedation. At Care Dental, we have our own, in-house seditionist and sedation trained nurses who are specially trained to give all levels of sedation and anesthesia to both children and adults.

IV sedation is available for virtually any procedure you might need to undergo at a dental practice, from oral surgery to routine examinations and cleanings. Sedation is safe for most patients, but your dentist will check your medical history and any medications you’re currently taking to make sure that it’s the right choice for you.
No. You will still be conscious and responsive, just in a comfortable state of relaxation.
